A pet food drive will start on July 11 and run through August 11 for the “Dog Days of Summer.”

The Dog Days of Summer Pet Food Drive, presented by Spectrum Printing Company, is a way for people and pets to have a chance to win fun prizes while benefiting the community through the pet food drive.

The pet food drive helps the Humane Society of Southern Arizona feed the animals in their care and provide pet food to those in need.

With litter season over now, the number of puppies and kittens means the Humane Society now has a large number of pets up for adoption.

“Last year’s Dog Days of Summer contest entrants overwhelmingly wanted to support the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and the Pet Food Drive seemed like a really good way to help animals currently in their care.  So many people are struggling to keep their pets, we hope this program help them stay together” says Dawn Vandaveer, coordinator of the program.
